Connecting Knowledge, People & Environment: Preparing Young People for Future Leadership
The Humanities curriculum provides students the opportunity to understand dynamics and processes of human societies and physical environments. Students learn about significant historical events, contemporary issues confronting the world and natural processes shaping the physical environment. The Humanities curriculum prepares students with critical thinking skills to manage complex societal and environmental issues expected of our future leaders.
The Humanities subjects offered at upper secondary level are pre-requisite for entry to junior colleges and niche courses offered by the polytechnics. Highly capable students can look forward to pursuing the subject in the Humanities Scholars Programmes offered at selected top junior colleges.
At Junyuan Secondary School, students are offered History and Geography at lower secondary level and the Combined Humanities (i.e. Social Studies with either History Elective or Geography Elective) at upper secondary. On top of the main academic curriculum, the Humanities Department also provides students with the opportunities for overseas and local learning journeys, participation in competitions and various enrichment activities to broaden and deepen their understanding.
